What is a Scanstation ?
A complete aperture card scanning solution, answering the needs of the most discerning user.
With a range of three Scanstations, each with its own individual high performance characteristics, there is one which will fit your application.
Whether you need to scan one card a day into your CAD system, or five hundred an hour into your archive, you can do it all with the utmost confidence with a Wicks and Wilson Scanstation.
Each Scanstation comes complete with the versatile SCANCARD software which has been proved to be the best of its kind.
It provides maximum user control and is packed with features so necessary for professional card scanning.
Using SMARTSCAN, the established Wicks and Wilson technology for image enhancement with adaptive thresholding, each Scanstation has its own individual price and specification but they all have one thing in common - performance and productivity.

Why you need a Scanstation?
To convert the millions of aperture cards which exist today into digital data.

The application could be:
to import a drawing into a CAD system
to include the drawing in a digital archive
to provide a bureau scanning service
to produce prints from aperture cards (also see the 1400)

Easy to use
Simplicity is the key to good images and good productivity and although the Scanstations have very advanced features they are designed to be simple to use.
The acclaimed SMARTSCAN image processing system provides two levels of use: the basic level has a Normal setting for a very wide range of images, Light for exceptionally thin or Dark for exceptionally dark images.
For problem images and skilled users their is the Advanced level which provides a wealth of settings and controls to handle the very worst images.
The Scanstation provides superb productivity and has all the tools and controls needed for quick and efficient scanning in one application.
Images are compressed and displayed as they are scanned, there are QA tools within the software - check prints can be made, an Automatic QA system is available and a shuttle scan constantly scans and rescans an area of film while the settings are being changed to maximise the image quality.

Key operational benefits
Single cards can be viewed and rescanned before filing; rescanning is one operation and takes just a few seconds.
Batches of cards can be scanned automatically; check prints can be made of every card or whenever needed.
Drawing sizes, reduction ratios and resolution can be set up by the user.
Any number of combinations may be used.
Files may be sent anywhere on the network; after scanning, files can be reviewed singly or continuously in Browse Mode for checking or printing; TIFF, CALS and other file types are available.
After scanning, images may be cropped (cut out edges), framed (made to fit a size) or deskewed (straightened)
Log files can be created of the work done which can report on each file made, each batch scanned or both.
The user decides what data will be included in the log file.
The Hollerith punching on the card can be checked and edited and it can also be used to control the drawing size and the file name.
